414 Canadian Citizenship Test Questions and Answers (Free PDF and Video)
The well-known 414-question study set, rebuilt from scratch with up-to-date answers. Download free, no signup.

If you have searched for the 414 citizenship questions, you have probably seen the study set that has circulated for years through a popular YouTube video and shared PDFs. It helped a lot of people pass, but it has not been updated: some answers still reference NAFTA instead of CUSMA, use court names and titles from the Queen's reign, and rely on wording from older editions of Discover Canada, the official study guide. So we built a current version: 414 questions and answers drawn from our own maintained bank, checked against the 2026 guide, formatted as a clean printable PDF. It is free, there is no signup, and you can preview the first 25 questions below.

What the popular 414-questions set gets wrong in 2026
First, credit where it is due. The circulating set is competently put together and mostly accurate, and it has helped a lot of people prepare for free. The problem is not that it was built badly. The problem is that it is a static file that nobody maintains, and Discover Canada and the country around it keep moving. Here is where the age shows.
The change of Sovereign, applied unevenly. Since September 2022 the monarch has been King Charles III. The old set was patched in some places and not others, so you will find one answer that says “King” and another a few questions later that still says “Queen,” along with a royal anthem and an oath written for the previous reign. One document, two monarchs, because someone fixed the spots they happened to notice. A maintained bank updates every instance in a single pass.
Court names from before 2022. Several provinces renamed the Court of Queen's Bench to the Court of King's Bench in 2022 and 2023. A static study set still teaches the old name.
NAFTA, not CUSMA. The North American Free Trade Agreement was replaced by CUSMA (also called USMCA) on 1 July 2020. Answers that still name NAFTA as the current trade agreement are out of date.
The oath, before the 2021 amendment. In June 2021 the citizenship oath was amended to add recognition of the Aboriginal and treaty rights of First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples. That is the text a new citizen actually recites, and older sets predate it.
None of this makes the old set worthless. It makes the point that a printed PDF ages the day it is finished, and it ages unevenly, in the exact places a reader cannot easily check. Our edition is drawn from a bank we keep current, and it carries a visible “2026 edition” date and a generated-on date so you can always see how fresh it is.
Is 414 questions enough?
It is more than enough breadth. The real citizenship test is only 20 questions, you get 45 minutes, and you need 15 of 20 correct, which is 75%, to pass. Every question is drawn from Discover Canada. So reading 414 questions front to back covers the material comfortably.
What a long list cannot do is tell you which handful of facts you keep getting wrong. That is where people actually lose marks, and it is the difference between a study PDF and a practice tool. Spaced repetition and wrong-answer targeting spend your time on your weak areas instead of the ones you already know, and a timed simulator tells you when you are genuinely ready rather than when you have simply read everything once.
Common questions
Where does the original 414-questions set come from?
It is an unofficial study set that has circulated for years through a popular YouTube video and shared PDFs. It is anonymous and undated, and it is based on the official Discover Canada study guide. It helped a lot of people, but nobody maintains it.
Is the circulating 414 set still accurate in 2026?
Mostly, but not entirely. Because it is a static file, parts of it have aged: some answers still say NAFTA (replaced by CUSMA in 2020), some use court names and monarch wording from before the 2022 change of Sovereign, and some rely on figures from older editions of Discover Canada. Our version is rebuilt from a bank we keep current.
Is this PDF really free?
Yes. It is free to download, with no email signup and no account. It is also free to share and print. It is not for resale.
How many questions is the actual citizenship test?
The real test is 20 questions. You have 45 minutes, and you need 15 of 20 correct (75%) to pass. Every question is drawn from Discover Canada. Always confirm the current format with IRCC before your appointment.
Is there a French version?
Yes. There is a full French edition of the PDF, and you can also practise the same questions in French in the interactive practice tool. Discover Canada is published by IRCC in both official languages.
Do I need anything besides this PDF?
The PDF is a solid, current study set. To actually know when you are ready, a practice tool that tracks what you keep getting wrong and simulates the timed test does more than a static list. That is what the Citizen Pass app and practice area add, free.
The PDF is static. The app tracks what you get wrong.
